UAS Trespass Downing Authorization
Current understanding
Michigan HB 5327 would amend sec. 22 of the Unmanned Aircraft Systems Act (2016 PA 436, MCL 259.322) to expressly allow the downing of a trespassing drone. The bill is at the introduced stage and expands existing UAS trespass provisions to authorize a private/self-help enforcement remedy, distinct from HB 5325’s critical-infrastructure-specific destruction authority.
