UAS Geofencing at Critical Infrastructure

Current understanding

Michigan HB 5323 would amend the Management and Budget Act (1984 PA 431) by adding sec. 219a to authorize the installation of geofencing around critical infrastructure or state buildings to restrict unmanned aircraft systems (drones) from entering those airspaces. The bill is at the introduced stage and complements parallel UAS bills that criminalize drone trespass over key facilities (HB 5319) and establish a database of restricted zones (tie-barred to HB 5321).
