Zoning for Cryptocurrency Mining (Michigan Zoning Enabling Act)

Current understanding

HB4085 (103rd Legislature) would amend the Michigan Zoning Enabling Act (2006 PA 110, MCL 125.3101-125.3702) by adding section 515 to explicitly allow cryptocurrency mining operations within areas zoned for industrial use. The bill is at the introduced stage. For local governments and industrial property owners, it would establish state-level land-use recognition of crypto-mining as a permitted industrial activity.
