Youth Employment Standards Act
Current understanding
Michigan’s 1978 Youth Employment Standards Act (1978 PA 90, MCL 409.101 et seq.) sets rules for the employment of minors, including work permits, hour limits, and prohibited occupations. Pending legislation would roll back several provisions and eliminate the work permit requirement.
