Physician Noncompete Agreement Prohibition

Current understanding

HB 6119 would amend sec. 4a of 1984 PA 274 (MCL 445.774a), Michigan’s antitrust/noncompete provision, to prohibit certain noncompete agreements applied to physicians. Framed as a fair employment practices measure, it would carve physicians out from enforceable post-employment restrictive covenants, affecting hospital, health-system, and physician-group employment contracts.
