Occupational Licensing Preliminary Determination Process (1980 PA 299)

Current understanding

Under Michigan’s Occupational Code (1980 PA 299), certain applicants seeking licensure may request a preliminary determination of whether prior conduct (such as a criminal record) would disqualify them before submitting a full application. SB 1056 proposes to modify secs. 202a and 411 of the Act to adjust how these preliminary determinations are handled. Introduced; incremental change with no new pathway created.
