Neighborhood Enterprise Zone Act

Current understanding

The Neighborhood Enterprise Zone Act (1992 PA 147, MCL 207.771 et seq.) authorizes local units of government to designate neighborhood enterprise zones and grant property tax abatements on new, rehabilitated, or existing residential facilities to encourage neighborhood housing investment. SB 1053 (103rd Legislature) proposes to amend section 3 (MCL 207.773) to modify the allowable percentage of a local unit’s property that may be designated as neighborhood enterprise zones. The bill is introduced; specific percentage changes remain to be recorded from the bill text.
