Paraquat Dichloride Herbicide Prohibition

Current understanding

Michigan HB 6114 (103rd Legislature) would amend the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act (1994 PA 451) by adding subpart 3 to part 147 to prohibit the use of herbicides containing paraquat dichloride. Paraquat is a highly toxic herbicide linked in public-health literature to Parkinson’s disease and acute poisoning risk; a state-level ban would remove it from lawful agricultural and commercial use. The bill has been introduced.
