Nursing Home Personal Needs Allowance

Current understanding

Michigan’s Social Welfare Act (1939 PA 280) sets the personal needs allowance retained by Medicaid-covered nursing home residents from their income before the balance is applied to the cost of care. HB6153 (introduced) proposes to increase this allowance by amending MCL 400.106 and adding a new sec. 106d.
