Medicaid Coverage for Donor Human Milk

Current understanding

Proposal to require Michigan Medicaid to cover donor human milk under certain conditions by adding a new section (sec. 109y) to the Social Welfare Act (1939 PA 280). SB0725 is the vehicle; it has been introduced. If enacted, Medicaid-enrolled infants meeting clinical criteria would gain access to pasteurized donor human milk as a covered benefit.
