Gender Transition Adverse Consequences Insurance Coverage Mandate
Current understanding
HB4468 would amend the Insurance Code (1956 PA 218) by adding sec. 3406ww to require Michigan health insurers to cover the adverse consequences of gender transition procedures as well as the adverse consequences of reversal of gender transition procedures. The mandate would extend insured benefits to patients experiencing complications from either direction of transition-related care, without directly mandating coverage of the transition procedures themselves.
