Water Bottling Withdrawal Permits & Royalties (SDWA)

Current understanding

Proposed amendments to Michigan’s Safe Drinking Water Act (1976 PA 399) would require a permit and license for water withdrawals used for water bottling and establish a royalty regime on those withdrawals. If enacted, bottlers would face a new state-level authorization step plus per-volume payments in addition to any existing Part 327 NREPA withdrawal requirements.
