Data Center Energy & Water Usage Reporting (SB0762)

Current understanding

SB0762 would amend section 5a of 1939 PA 3 (MCL 460.5a) to require data centers operating in Michigan to report their energy and water usage to the state. Unlike HB6138, which creates a new standalone act imposing substantive water-use requirements, SB0762 works through the existing Public Service Commission enabling statute to add transparency/reporting obligations.
