Redistricting Commissioner Candidacy Eligibility

Current understanding

Article IV, Section 6 of the Michigan Constitution establishes the Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission and includes restrictions on commissioners running for elected office (currently barring commissioners from being candidates for state legislative, congressional, or state elective office for a period after service). HJRW is a joint resolution that would amend Section 6 to modify these post-service candidacy eligibility rules. Status: introduced.
