Precinct Boundaries & Consolidated Precincts

Current understanding

Michigan Election Law (MCL 168.659, sec. 659 of 1954 PA 116) governs precinct boundaries and the conditions under which a clerk may combine precincts. SB0820 would amend sec. 659 to permit consolidated precincts during certain local elections, expanding the circumstances in which clerks can merge polling places for administrative efficiency. Status: passed one chamber.
