Why this matters
An $11.9 billion AEGIS shipset package would be one of the largest US arms transfers to Germany in recent memory, tying the Bundesmarine’s next-generation surface combatants to the US AEGIS/SPY-6/MK 41 architecture and deepening NATO naval interoperability.
