Why this matters

Poland is a frontline NATO member building out an integrated air and missile defense architecture around the U.S. IBCS system, and enhancements to the previously notified $4 billion package deepen interoperability with U.S. air-defense command-and-control. Tracking Section 36(b)(5)© enhancements — as distinct from new major sales — shows how the U.S.-Poland security relationship is expanding incrementally within existing FMS authorities.
