A pass-through re-grant from a prime recipient to a sub-recipient.

USAID sub · SAVE THE CHILDREN INTERNATIONAL ← SAVE THE CHILDREN FEDERATION, INC. — $8.8M

Key claim: USAID is channeling $8.8M through Save the Children Federation, Inc. (prime) to Save the Children International (sub-awardee) for multi-year Resilience Food Security Activities (RFSAs) targeting food and nutrition security for vulnerable populations.

Abstract

SAVE THE CHILDREN INTERNATIONAL received $8.8M as a sub-award (pass-through) from prime recipient SAVE THE CHILDREN FEDERATION, INC. (prime award 720BHA24CA00038), under Agency for International Development funding. RESILIENCE FOOD SECURITY ACTIVITIES (RFSAS) WORK TO IMPROVE AND SUSTAIN THE FOOD AND NUTRITION SECURITY OF VULNERABLE POPULATIONS THROUGH MULTI-YEAR RESILIENCE FOOD AND NUTRITION SECURITY ACTIVITIES. THESE ACTIVITIES WORK AT THE INDIVIDUAL, HOUSEHOLD, COMMUNITY, AND INSTITUTIONAL LEVELS TO ADDRESS THE UNDERLYING CAUSES OF FOOD INSECURITY AND MALNUTRITION AND STRENGTHEN TRANSFORMATIVE OPPORTUNITIES. RFSAS ARE INTENDED TO STRENGTHEN RESILIENCE IN POPULATIONS VULNERABLE TO ACUTE, CHRONIC HUNGER, AND MALNUTRITION; RECURRENT SHOCKS, STRESSES, AND CRISES; AND TO REDUCE THE NEED FOR ONGOING OR FUTURE EMERGENCY FOOD ASSISTANCE.

Why this matters

Resilience Food Security Activities (RFSAs) are USAID’s flagship multi-year food security instrument, and this $8.8M sub-award adds to the visible footprint of Save the Children’s RFSA portfolio alongside CRS and Food for the Hungry Ethiopia awards. Tracking prime-sub routing through international NGO federations clarifies how US food security dollars reach field implementers.
