NED — Russia program

Current understanding

NED’s Russia portfolio comprises 94 active grants totaling approximately $14.9M, funding work on political prisoners, freedom of information, civic leadership, and historical memory. Most grantee names are withheld for security reasons, so onward subgrantee trails largely go cold at the NED level. This is an ongoing country program rather than a new initiative.
