NED — Global program

Current understanding

The NED Global program funds cross-cutting, transnational democracy work not tied to a single country or region — 54 active grants totaling $44.5M supporting human-rights defender networks, independent media infrastructure, and programs countering authoritarian influence. As the largest single line inside NED’s portfolio by dollar value, it functions as the venue for global convenings, solidarity platforms, and thematic initiatives that cross regional boundaries. Onward subgrantees are partially traceable and should be documented as they surface.
