(Rule · Transportation Department, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) On May 30, 2025, NHTSA published a notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) proposing to remove obsolete requirements from Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 301, “Fuel System Integrity.” The agency received three comments on the proposed changes to FMVSS No. 301. The agency is adopting a revised version of the proposed changes in this final rule based on the comments received.
