Airworthiness Directives; Embraer S.A. Airplanes

Key claim: The FAA proposes requiring operators of certain Embraer EMB-545 and EMB-550 airplanes to replace a Ram Air Turbine compartment door seal that could peel off and jam the emergency power turbine.

Abstract

(Proposed Rule · Transportation Department, Federal Aviation Administration) The FAA proposes to adopt a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain Embraer S.A. Model EMB-545 and EMB-550 airplanes. This proposed AD was prompted by the possibility of the Ram Air Turbine (RAT) compartment door seal peeling off and becoming entangled with the RAT rotor. This proposed AD would require replacement of the RAT compartment door seal. The FAA is proposing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products.

Why this matters

The FAA proposes requiring operators of certain Embraer EMB-545 and EMB-550 airplanes to replace a Ram Air Turbine compartment door seal that could peel off and jam the emergency power turbine.
