Carboxin; Pesticide Tolerances
Key claim: EPA is setting legal limits on how much of the pesticide carboxin can remain on certain crops so those foods can be sold with residues up to those levels.
Abstract
(Rule · Environmental Protection Agency) This regulation establishes tolerances for residues of carboxin in or on multiple crops that are discussed later in this document. Under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA), UPL Delaware Inc. submitted a petition to EPA requesting that EPA establish a maximum permissible level for residues of this pesticide in or on the identified commodities.
Why this matters
Pesticide tolerances set the legal ceiling for chemical residues on food, directly shaping what growers can apply and what consumers ultimately eat. Each new carboxin tolerance expands the permitted use of a fungicide on specific crops, affecting farmer pest-management options and the residue baseline enforced by FDA and USDA in the food supply. Individually routine, these actions cumulatively define the residue landscape for U.S. and imported produce.
