Joe Fiandra Access to Home Infusion Act of 2025

Key claim: The Joe Fiandra Access to Home Infusion Act of 2025 would add Medicare coverage for external infusion pumps and associated home infusion drugs that must be administered or supervised by a healthcare professional at the beneficiary’s home at least 12 times per year.

Abstract

(HR4993 · 119th Congress) Joe Fiandra Access to Home Infusion Act of 2025 This bill provides for Medicare coverage of certain home infusion drugs that are administered by health care professionals at a beneficiary’s home. Specifically, the bill provides for coverage of external infusion pumps and associated home infusion drugs for which (1) the prescription requires that the drug be administered by or under the supervision of a health care professional, (2) a qualified home infusion therapy supplier administers or supervises the administration of the drug at the beneficiary’s home, and (3) the prescription requires that the drug be infused at least 12 times per year in a manner that requires the use of an external infusion pump. Latest action (2025-12-10): Ordered to be Reported in the Nature of a Substitute (Amended) by the Yeas and Nays: 41 - 0.

Why this matters

Medicare’s home infusion benefit currently excludes many professionally administered external-pump therapies, forcing beneficiaries into higher-cost outpatient or facility settings for infusions that could be delivered at home. By defining a coverage trigger tied to frequency (≥12 times per year) and clinician supervision, the bill would establish a new access pathway for chronic infusion patients and could shift where and how such drugs are billed under Medicare Part B.
