Chronic Care Management Improvement Act of 2026

Key claim: The Chronic Care Management Improvement Act of 2026 would eliminate patient cost-sharing for chronic care management services under Medicare.

Abstract

(HR8261 · 119th Congress) Chronic Care Management Improvement Act of 2026 This bill eliminates cost-sharing for chronic care management services under Medicare. Latest action (2026-04-14): Referred to the Committee on Energy and Commerce, and in addition to the Committee on Ways and Means, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned.

Why this matters

Chronic care management (CCM) services help Medicare beneficiaries with multiple chronic conditions coordinate care between visits, but current cost-sharing requirements have been cited as a barrier to enrollment. Eliminating out-of-pocket costs would directly change what patients pay for these services and could expand uptake among the roughly two-thirds of Medicare beneficiaries with two or more chronic conditions.
