Why this matters
The annual THUD appropriations act is the primary funding vehicle for nearly every federal transportation safety and infrastructure agency tracked in this area, from FAA airworthiness activities to NHTSA vehicle safety rulemaking and FMCSA motor carrier oversight. Even as a routine FY2026 vehicle without novel policy mechanisms, its enactment determines the practical capacity of regulators to execute the rules and programs catalogued elsewhere in this vault.
