Protecting U.S. Farmland and Sensitive Sites From Foreign Adversaries Act (HR8700)

Current understanding

HR8700 would impose new federal restrictions on the acquisition or control of U.S. agricultural land and other sensitive sites by persons associated with foreign adversaries. It sits alongside a growing bill cluster (PASS Act, FARMLAND Act, SOIL Act, FARM Act, and Protecting America’s Agricultural Land from Foreign Harm Act) that layers categorical adversary-country prohibitions and CFIUS-style review on top of the existing AFIDA disclosure regime.
