Restoring Energy Market Freedom Act
Current understanding
The Restoring Energy Market Freedom Act is a legislative proposal to repeal a broad slate of federal business tax credits for clean and renewable electricity production and investment, nuclear (advanced and zero-emission), carbon sequestration (§45Q), clean hydrogen, advanced/qualifying coal and gasification projects, and advanced energy and semiconductor manufacturing. Businesses currently claiming or planning to claim these credits would pay more in federal tax; the general corporate tax base would broaden. Status: introduced.
