KIDS Act
Current understanding
The KIDS Act is a proposed federal minor-safety framework covering online platforms, social media services, video games, and AI chatbots. For individuals, it would give minors and parents new default protections — age-restricted access to harmful sexual material, default limits on compulsive-use and messaging features, parental privacy and in-app purchase controls, and disclosures when interacting with AI plus suicide-hotline referrals. For companies, it would create design, default-setting, and disclosure duties enforced by the FTC and state attorneys general. Status: introduced.
