Justice for ALS Veterans Act of 2025
Current understanding
The Justice for ALS Veterans Act of 2025 would amend VA Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC) rules so surviving spouses of veterans who die from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) qualify for the increased DIC rate without meeting the current requirement that the veteran was rated totally disabled for at least eight years before death. The bill would also require VA to report to Congress on other service-connected disabilities that may warrant similar treatment.
