ETS Act (Transition Assistance & Post-Separation Health Care Extension)
Current understanding
The ETS Act would expand pre-separation Transition Assistance Program (TAP) counseling requirements for servicemembers, extend transitional health care coverage after separation from 180 to 270 days, and strengthen VA and Department of Labor outreach and job services for those moving to civilian life. It is framed as an incremental expansion of existing TAP, transitional TRICARE-style coverage, and interagency employment coordination rather than a new standalone program. Status: introduced.
