Medicare Hearing Aid Coverage Act of 2025
Current understanding
The Medicare Hearing Aid Coverage Act of 2025 (introduced) would amend Title XVIII of the Social Security Act to add Medicare coverage for hearing aids and related examinations, ending Medicare’s longstanding statutory exclusion of hearing aids. The bill also directs GAO to study existing hearing-aid assistance programs. If enacted, beneficiaries with hearing loss could obtain hearing aids as a covered Medicare benefit rather than paying out-of-pocket or relying on Medicare Advantage supplemental benefits.
