Ethan’s Law
Current understanding
Ethan’s Law would establish federal criminal penalties (including forfeiture) for unsafe residential storage of firearms where a minor is likely to access the weapon or where a resident is prohibited from possession. It would also condition DOJ grant funding on states and tribes adopting equivalent safe-storage requirements, creating a federal floor and financial incentive for state/tribal adoption. Status: introduced.
