Affordable and Safe Prescription Drug Importation Act of 2025
Current understanding
Introduced legislation that would require HHS to allow importation of qualifying prescription drugs — including biologics such as insulin — from Canada, the UK, Switzerland, and EU member states, and would eliminate the current statutory prerequisite that the HHS Secretary certify safety and cost savings before importation can proceed. The bill would also authorize individuals to fill U.S.-issued prescriptions at licensed foreign pharmacies for personal use. Status: introduced.
