School Personnel Wellness Grants (HR8676)
Current understanding
HR8676 would amend the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 to authorize the Secretary of Education to award grants to State educational agencies to carry out wellness programs for school personnel. The bill is at the ‘introduced’ stage and does not establish a new grant mechanism, instead extending ESEA’s existing SEA grant framework to a new eligible use. For institutions, it would create a new discretionary funding stream for staff wellness; for students, effects would be indirect via workforce well-being.
