Current understanding
Legislation expanding federal criminal penalties for the manufacture of fentanyl and counterfeit controlled substances. Directs the DEA to develop and implement an enforcement and public education plan focused on counterfeit fentanyl and methamphetamine, and requires DOJ to submit annual reports to Congress on related law enforcement activity. Builds incrementally on the existing Controlled Substances Act framework without creating new regulatory mechanisms.
