Protecting U.S. Farmland and Sensitive Sites From Foreign Adversaries Act (HR8700)

Current understanding

HR8700 would impose new federal restrictions on acquisition or control of U.S. agricultural land and designated sensitive sites by persons or entities associated with foreign adversaries. The bill is incremental to the existing patchwork of AFIDA disclosure requirements and CFIUS/FARM Act agricultural-review proposals, adding a proximity-to-sensitive-sites dimension to the foreign-adversary land-ownership regime. Status: introduced.
