IRONDOME Act of 2025

Current understanding

The IRONDOME Act of 2025 would direct the Department of Defense to develop a multi-year plan to transfer missile defense operations from the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) to the military departments, and to accelerate development and fielding of space-based interceptors, airships, and drone/satellite systems for homeland missile defense. It builds on an existing executive order but adds statutory requirements for restructuring the U.S. missile defense architecture. Status: introduced; fiscal and organizational implications (MDA workforce/budget transfer, new acquisition lines for space-based and airborne systems) are not yet scored.
