Plant-Powered School Meals Pilot Act
Current understanding
HR5867, the Plant-Powered School Meals Pilot Act, would establish a USDA pilot program to offer plant-based meal options in participating K-12 schools under the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs. The bill was referred to the House Committee on Education and Workforce and has not advanced further. If enacted, it would test operational feasibility and student uptake of plant-based menu items without altering existing meal pattern requirements outside the pilot.
