Organic Imports Verification
Current understanding
The Organic Imports Verification Act of 2025 (S1398), introduced and referred to the Senate Agriculture Committee in April 2025, would require enhanced verification of organic certification claims on agricultural imports. The bill targets a longstanding regulatory gap in which imported products marketed as organic have been difficult to trace and audit against USDA National Organic Program standards.
