Food Waste Reduction Grants
Current understanding
Federal proposals to establish grant programs for studying and reducing food waste at the state, local, tribal, territorial, and nonprofit level. Effects on farmers and food prices are indirect (potential diversion of surplus food, reduced disposal costs), while consumer effects depend on downstream distribution and recovery mechanisms funded. Status: legislative proposal stage (HR6684, Zero Food Waste Act) in the 119th Congress.
